Las Vegas' Curl Up and Die are back with their second full length on Revelation Records. "The One Above All, The End Of All That Is" fully realizes the direction laid out on last year's bookend CDEPs "We May Be Through With The Past..."(Status Records) and "...But The Past Aint Through With Us" (REV 117).
On "The One Above All..", Curl Up and Die teamed up with expert producer Alex Newport (At The Drive-In, Mars Volta, Kylesa) in Los Angeles and emerged with a record that is full of speed-freak thrash, epic heaviness, and monstrously loud riffs. With Mike Minnick's trademark vocals becoming more and more part of the foreground and the deft interplay between the rhythm section of Ryan Hartery (bass) and Jesse Fitts (drums) providing the base for Matt Fuchs' massive guitar work, Curl Up and Die has delivered yet another step toward the future of heavy music.

| im really sad to say it, but its really an okay album. i can bear to listen to it but i probably wont wait for it to grow on me. ill go and be a cliche just so i can say that theyre trying to broaden their artistic integrity. but really, they just sound like a lot of the other "metal-core" crap out there. not even the good ones. theres a few songs that still show the remnants of the spastic curl up and die. but all in all, i got a bit bored with it. artwork is cool, like the bookend ep's, which the songs, for some reason i really loved. but ill keep the cd just because theyre still one of my favorite bands. |

| This is a big fat disappointment. What Curl Up and Die have done here is they went back over the old cds and picked out the most boring parts and made a “new” CD out of them. I love Curl Up and Die, but this cd just doesn’t do anything. Maybe they are getting old and need to take a nap or something. Damn-it gas is too expensive to buy crappy cds like this. Make sure you have everything else they’ve done before you waste money on this. In fact I just heard the new Ed Gein record, that sounds more like a Curl Up And Die record then this does. Get that record, you will be happier. |
