Balancing chaos and consciousness is no easy feat, and few bands will ever do it as well as Death By Stereo has on the astonishing new disc Death For Life. Brutal and brutally honest, the set’s eleven songs come swinging at you like a bag of bricks as they embrace the extremities of hardcore and the fluid riffs of metal.

"We fought it out and found out what we want to be," says vocalist Efrem Schulz. "We’re still here, still fighting, still pissed and not pulling any punches. And while we may be into some pissed off music – at the same time we want to party."

I was...dissapointed. I LOVE DBS but this album seemed safe for them. They are great live, I love the lyrics and they do great guitar work but they've done so much better. Worth a buy only if you have all their other stuff or want to hear a Killswitch knockoff.

They'll be back and they'll be on top again. I will not give up on such a talented band.

3/7/2006 by Mike from Santa Cruz, CA Rating:
Really, it's not that bad. It's not that good either, if you started listening to DBS before this. The guitar lines are cool, but just nowhere near as crazy as they used to be. Efrem's voice is a lot more controlled on this album- so in some ways it sounds better than ever, but in other ways it sounds like he lost some intensity. Lyrics are terrible as always, but maybe worse this time, simply because he uses the word "cum" somewhat excessively. It made me laugh when I first realized that, but then it kind of just annoyed me. I can still listen to the first 2 DBS albums, but I'm already over this one, so I give it a 3.

12/14/2005 by Kent from Alma, MI Rating:
They continue with the Death for Life Motif on this album, which isnt a bad thing. This cd is quite good in my opinion, but it is not as catchy as thier previous releases. I really like the song "Entombed we Collide". Avenged Sevenfolds singer sounds really good on the song and really brings it together. Full of energy and sweet guitar riffs. A must have for any DBS fan.

7/1/2005 by Ryan from Tucson, AZ Rating:
Death By Stereo have changed quite abit over the years, and it is surly for the good! This CD is sooooooo fucking brutal crushing metal! This CD is packed full of insane guitar solos, hard breakdowns, super fast metal, peircing screaming, beautiful singing, and the same "sing along" hardcore that Death By Stereo has always been known for.

Efrem really pushes the limits of his vocals on this cd, from the highest screaming, deep growling, to even a beautiful soft acustic song! Death By Stereo have produced one of their best CD yet!

I cannot wait to see them play this stuff live, because it will be amazing.

6/22/2005 by Patrick from West Des Moines, IA Rating:
This is a huge step for the band.Efrem's vocals are top notch. His singing took me by suprise at first along with the rest of the music on here. The progress they've made just since their last recording is phenomenal. The guitars are beautiful. From chug-a-lugging breakdowns and sweet solos to melodic, catchy hooks.Very talented guitar playing. The lyrics are very deep and touching and a bit raunchy at some parts of the songs. This cd will grow on you fast regardless of how much the band has progressed.I still prefer their old material though just because it's more raw and hardcore. But, that doesn't stop this album from kicking ass.Especially yours, cause you're a pussy!

6/18/2005 by Jason from New Milton, United Kingdom Rating:
a lot of older fans who dont like metal will hate this. but anyone who does like metal with pace and screams will love it. there's a lot of good songs on this, and i wouldnt know where to start on thinking about which i like best.

the guitars are heavy, the drums are immense and the solo's are crunchy. what more could you ask for?
