Converge is one of those bands that has to grow on you. At first it just sounds like some band formed at an asylum for schizophrenics and maniacs. The 2nd and 3rd listen is when you really start to pick up on everything and its just "Holy shit! These guys are fucking awesome". My girlfriend still doenst appreciate them. Its easy to see why Converge are looked upon as modern "legends". I think Jane Doe is their best CD and this one comes in 2nd. This is an older one so its alot less produced and more abrasive. If you like metal or hardcore you owe it to yourself to get this (But in all honesty...You should have it already)

Classic Converge. The songs are longer and more drawn out than newer Converge, but it's still brutal, inventive, and all out amazing. Just fucking get it!

Everyone always says that this is the best Converge album. I disagree and stand by the fact that this is Converge's 'coming into their own' cd. It's really good, but sub-par production and some weak songs help perpetuate the albums that are recorded after this one. Personally I like When Forever Comes Crashing, Jane Doe, and You Fail Me as their best works. This album hints of the greatness that followed. But there are still 4-5 blamazing songs on this album, and obviously one of them is The Saddest Day. Great doomcore mixed with hardcore/metal madness. Love this band!!!

Well.Certainly one of the better Converge releases. It's hard to compare them all, but this is very good.I did get to hear the quality of the original release. But, this is spectacular.Even the live tracks sound studio produced and recorded.Killer tracks are Farewell Note to this City, Color Me Blood Red, Dead.Every track is just so good.Very heavy, chugging guitars with technical yet raw picking. The drums are pretty common Converge beats...fast.The lyrics as always are top notch. The artwork is beautiful also.Jacob Bannon is just a genius.Great album. But, I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you're just getting into Converge.I would suggest Jane Doe.But, this is just sheer brilliance.I FUCKING LOVE CONVERGE!!!!!!!!!!

4/11/2005 by Carlos from Los Angeles, CA Rating:
i had passed on this band for a while not really realizing how good they actually were its is actually melodic hardcore and when i say that his screaming isnt grungy deep resounding its high pitched melodic and the music goes from hard paced to slow breakdowns at times real really interesting stufff!!!!

3/26/2005 by Chris from Bountiful, UT Rating:
Very good cd, not as good as "When forever comes crashing" regardless of Color me blood red and The Saddest Day, But if your into Converge definitly pick this one up.
